MROCP
is provided by AMTC as a scheduled course; attendance is highly
recommended. Alternatively, candidates may self study from the 'Radio
Operator's Handbook' and attend the examination.

Nautical
Knowledge (Coxswain) does not require attendance at classroom
based workshops.
Attendance
is, however, recommended, particularly for candidates not currently
employed in the maritime industry.
The
purposes of the Nautical Knowledge classroom based workshops are
to provide opportunities for candidates to;
- overview
the requirements of a unit
- review
their progress,
- receive
assistance from a qualified trainer in sections of the unit posing
difficulties, and
- practice
applying the knowlege gained through mentored self study.
Nautical
Knowledge (Coxswain) does require attendance at onboard practical
workshop.
The
purposes of the Nautical Knowledge onboard practical workshops are
to provide candidates with opportunities to;
- review
performance in the required skills
- receive
assistance from a qualified trainer in skills posing difficulties,
and
- be
assessed in practical skills required.
Candidate
should have completed most, if not all, of the units incorporated
in Nautical Knowledge (Coxswain) before attendance at an onboard
practical workshop.
